“Getting the most from your
Business Network Membership"
Networking Tips
People who “Network” most effectively recognise that “Networks” need to be organised and managed, just like any other key business resource.
The Business Network offers you great opportunities to build valuable contacts that could influence the buying and selling needs of your Company.
The following guidelines can help you to maximise those opportunities:
1. Regular attendance – Make sure that at least one senior representative from your Business attends every lunch, and where possible, try to keep the same attendee. This helps the relationship building process.
2. Target your attendance – target at least the securing of one appointment from the lunch, and use the booking form to ensure that you are seated with Companies that are of value to your business.
3. Arrive early – The “mix & mingle” session from 12.00 – 12.30 is seen by successful members as one of the most important sessions. Look out for new attendees (white badges) and introduce yourself.
4. Buy as well as sell – Our research shows that those who buy from fellow members are most often those that are selling to fellow members. However limited your buying needs may be, give a member the chance to quote for the business.
5. Be prepared – Your 4 – 5 minute presentation is the means to promote your services to the attendees around your table. Prepare it in advance, make it interesting, think about why you are different from your competitors, and above all, create an impression.
6. Promote special offers – We will announce any members’ special offers as part of the “notice board” session at the end of the lunch. If you have an offer, let us know 2 days before the Event. Remember, it must be special to Business Network members.
7. Don’t rush off – The lunch finishes at 2.00pm, but take a few minutes to introduce yourself to those people that you missed earlier. Even if you only swap cards or make an appointment, it is a start.
